Intro to Block Printing is the perfect place to start:

In just three hours, you’ll gain the fundamentals you need to begin your block printing journey, including:

• Discovering the tools and materials you'll need, as well as how to use them
• Learning what to consider when designing your prints
• Mastering the art of stamp carving
• Creating your first block prints

This workshop is designed for beginners (or those who would like to refresh their knowledge), so no prior knowledge is required.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have the skills and knowledge needed to carve your own stamps and create your first prints.

• Understanding how repeat patterns work in the context of block printing
• Learning the basics of designing your block for a repeat pattern, using the example of a square block
• Understanding what to watch out for when carving a repeating (tessellating) block 
• Learning tips & tricks for aligning & printing seamless repeat patterns
• Carving your first (square) tesselating block
• Block printing your first repeat patterns from your hand-carved stamp.

This workshop is designed for participants with basic block printing skills (e.g. who have taken the Intro to Block Printing workshop, Block Printing Made Easy or my Domestika Class).

By the end of this workshop series, you'll understand how repeat patterns work and have the skills and knowledge to print repeat patterns from your own hand-carved stamps, as well as the confidence to apply what you have learned to your own projects.

Alternatively, you can also take my pre-recorded Block Printing Made Easy class before the "Intro to Repeat Patterns" workshop or my "Introduction to Block Printing" Domestika class (German with English subtitles) and work through it at your own pace to get started with stamp carving and block printing before the repeat pattern workshop starts.

All workshops are delivered via the online video platform Zoom. I will present the workshop and do live demonstrations which you will be able to follow live via your computer or tablet device. The workshops are hands-on and if you decide to work alongside me, you will walk out of both workshops with a hand carved stamp and first prints. As a workshop participant, you can unmute yourself anytime to ask questions or show your progress when working alongside me. 

Yes, workshops are recorded. You will receive access to the recording within two working days after the workshop. You will have access to the recording for private viewing via the private Workshop Hub for at least 6 months after the end of the workshop. 

When you sign up for a workshop you will receive a payment confirmation right away. Shortly after, you will receive an email with all the materials needed for the workshop and further details about the workshop. Before the start of the workshop, you will receive the link to join the workshop via Zoom and a template that will come in helpful during the workshop. A few days after the workshop, you will receive access to the recording of your workshop via the private Workshop Hub. 

YES! The beauty of live online workshops is that you can watch and follow along from the comfort of your home, no matter where you are in the world. I set up my workshops in a way that they cover as many time zones as possible. 

Please note that this time around I am only offering European evening sessions which are best suitable for you if you are based in Europe/Africa (evening) and the Americas (daytime). A workshop starting at 7 pm CEST (Central European Summer Time) will take place during the afternoon of the US East coast and the morning/noon of the US Pacific coast. It will be early morning in New Zealand and very early morning/night in Australia.

You absolutely can attend with a friend. Each workshop ticket is for one person. If you want to attend with a friend or a family member (even from the same room), please buy one ticket for each participant to the workshop, as you would do for an in-person workshop.

I will provide a detailed list of tools after signing up. To  complete the workshops, you will need at least the following:

• Lino carving tools, like the Speedball or Abig started kits or more professional grade tools like Pfeil tools
• Soft carving material, such as the pink SpeedyCarve or blue Factis
• Inkpads (preferred!) or block printing ink (plus ink roller & plate for block printing ink)
• Paper for your prints (standard printer paper would work)
• Craft knife
• Tracing paper
• Pencil & eraser
• Optional
  • Ruler or set square
  • cutting mat
  • Paper to protect your work surface

Shortly after you sign up for the workshop, you will receive a detailed list with all materials needed.

Oh yes! In the Intro to Block Printing, I walk you through the process of block printing from the beginning to the end. If you work alongside me, you will walk out of the workshop with your first hand carved stamp.

In the Intro to Repeat Patterns Workshop I walk you through the process of block printing step-by-step, from designing for tessellating repeat patterns, to what to look out for when carving such repeat pattern blocks and how to align blocks that they print seamlessly. If you work alongside me, you will walk out of the workshop with your first tessellating square block.

Not at all! All workshop sessions are recorded and are available within 2 working days after the workshop session on the private Workshop Hub. 

You can watch the session at your own pace and work through it step by step.

The recordings also enables you to rewatch parts of the workshop if you wish.

Recordings are available for 6 months after the end of the workshop.

Never say never but I currently don't plan to offer these two workshops again this year. If you love the vibe of live workshops you can still register for the workshop and watch the recording.

If you can typically follow along what I am saying in English on Instagram, you should be fine attending the workshops. If you don't feel comfortable speaking in English, you can ask questions in German but I will translate them and answer them in English. I have had many German-speaking students participate in my live workshops successfully.
