A little carving experience is recommended. If you’ve never carved before, you can start with my pre-recorded Block Printing Made Easy class before this live workshop (you can add it at checkout at a discounted price!).

All workshops are delivered via the online video platform Zoom. I will present the workshop and do live demonstrations which you will be able to follow live via your computer or tablet device. The workshops are hands-on and if you decide to work alongside me, you will walk out of both workshops with a hand carved stamp and first prints. As a workshop participant, you can unmute yourself anytime to ask questions or show your progress when working alongside me. 

Yes, workshops are recorded. You will receive access to the recording within two working days after the workshop. You will have access to the recording for private viewing via the private Workshop Hub for at least 6 months after the end of the workshop. 

When you sign up for a workshop you will receive a payment confirmation right away. Shortly after, you will receive an email with all the materials needed for the workshop and further details about the workshop. Before the start of the workshop, you will receive the link to join the workshop via Zoom and a template that will come in helpful during the workshop. A few days after the workshop, you will receive access to the recording of your workshop via the private Workshop Hub. 

YES! The beauty of live online workshops is that you can watch and follow along from the comfort of your home, no matter where you are in the world. I set up my workshops in a way that they cover as many time zones as possible. 

Therefore I am offering this workshop in two different time slots

=> November 15 at 7 pm CET: Europe/Africa (evening) and the Americas (daytime); early morning Sunday in New Zealand. 

=> November 16 at 9 pm CET: Europe/Africa (morning), Asia (afternoone), Australia (afternoon, evening), New Zealand (late evening).

You absolutely can attend with a friend. Each workshop ticket is for one person. If you want to attend with a friend or a family member (even from the same room), please buy one ticket for each participant to the workshop, as you would do for an in-person workshop.

I will provide a detailed list of tools after signing up. To  complete the workshops, you will need at least the following:

• Lino carving tools, like the Speedball or Abig started kits or more professional grade tools like Pfeil tools
• Soft carving material, such as the pink SpeedyCarve or blue Factis
• Inkpads (preferred!) or block printing ink (plus ink roller & plate for block printing ink)
• Paper for your prints (standard printer paper would work)
• Craft knife
• Tracing paper
• Pencil & eraser
• Optional
  • Ruler or set square
  • cutting mat
  • Paper to protect your work surface

Shortly after you sign up for the workshop, you will receive a detailed list with all materials needed.

Oh yes! In the Intro to Repeat Patterns Workshop I walk you through the process of block printing step-by-step, from designing for tessellating repeat patterns, to what to look out for when carving such repeat pattern blocks and how to align blocks that they print seamlessly. If you work alongside me, you will walk out of the workshop with your first tessellating square block.

Not at all! All workshop sessions are recorded and are available within 2 working days after the workshop session on the private Workshop Hub. 

You can watch the session at your own pace and work through it step by step.

The recordings also enables you to rewatch parts of the workshop if you wish.

Recordings are available for 6 months after the end of the workshop.

These are the last Intro to Repeat Patterns workshops this year (I typically offer at a maximum of 1-2 a year, sometimes none). If you love the vibe of live workshops you can still register for the workshop and watch the recording.

Good news: if you understand English and were able to understand me (e.g. at the Block Printing Fest), you can do the workshop. If you don't feel comfortable speaking English, you may ask your questions during the workshop in German, I will translate them and answer them in English.
